Before & after

I picked up this shelf at the thrift store for a whopping $1.98. Stands roughly 4 1/2" tall. The very bottom part was half rotted and someone thought it would be a great idea to cover it in godawful shelf paper. I took it to work with me this afternoon, cleaned it up, removed the shelf paper, sawed off the rotten base, attached a piece of scrap wood to the bottom, and gave it a fresh coat of paint.

This is what you do at work? Are you hiring? Much of the wood furniture in this house was sanded, stained, and clear-coated by yours truly. :-)

That looks fantastic. And definitely worth the couple bucks and a few supplies.

I wish I had it in me to find things like this. But then again, who would keep Lowe's and Wally World in business if I followed you lead?

Looks great Mark! I have various pieces laying around, I call them "projects", everyone else calls them "scrap wood"! Maybe someday I'll get them done!

Great shelf for holding Fiesta. I love being able to save and repurpose thing like that.
